Leading national IT professional services provider, FinXL IT, was pleased to sponsor two runners as part of Team Finite’s record sized team of 12 participants in this year’s 40th Anniversary Sydney City2Surf 14km fun run on Sunday 8th August.
The picturesque route from the CBD up through the Eastern suburbs towards Watson’s Bay and then down again to Bondi attracted a record 80,000 entrants this year making it the largest organised event of its type in the world.
FinXL’s General Manager, Duncan Thomson, noted that “this years ‘Team Finite’ age span ranged from 9 through to 50 years old. It was also a close run race with FinXL’s fastest runner completing the course in a record 60 minutes, only 1 minute behind Finite’s fastest competitor! For the rest of us, there were some very respectable times achieved in what was a beautiful sunny, but chilly winter’s day.”
Team Finite also broke another record and managed to raise almost $4000 for their nominated charity, Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research, to assist with their important work.

Despite the current economic downturn, leading IT vendor FinXL IT Professional Services is forging ahead with its expansion plans with the opening of its new Perth office. Located within the very heart of the Perth CBD in St Martins Tower, FinXL is confident the WA market offers new long term business opportunities.
We are being asked “Why are you opening a new office in the midst of a downturn?” says FinXL’s Managing Director, Tracy Thomson. “Although the IT consultancy market is definitely subdued, we believe this is a great time to source an experienced local team and to start marketing our capabilities. We are also fortunate to have had a team of Consultant’s working within WA on client assignments for several years and also many of our large national clients have Perth based operations. FinXL revenues still growing despite market downturn
Sydney, 24th February 2009 – FinXL IT Professional Services are pleased to advise that sales revenues continued to rise by 20% during the 6 months to 31st December 08 to over $50M, in an increasingly difficult Australian IT consultancy market. Commenting on the result, FinXL’s MD Tracy Thomson said, “although the economic downturn is having a dampening effect on most industry sectors, there are still opportunities out there for niche IT consultancies such as FinXL that are prepared to search them out. Competition has never been fiercer, margins remain under pressure, however the strength of our ongoing client relationships and our unique value-added services has led to a significant number of new professional services opportunities for FinXL”.
“We do not foresee any let up in market conditions during the next 3-6 month period. FinXL’s main focus continues to be on strengthening our consultancy team and our ability to offer very competitive IT services in the current “cost cutting” environment to support internal resources that are coming under increasing pressure”.
FinXL will also be opening a new Perth, WA, office shortly as a strong vote of confidence that the WA IT market will pick up again in the not too distant future.

Continuing Excellent Growth for the Finite Group
The Finite Group has posted another exceptional set of results for the period Jul – December 2007:
Group Turnover (including FinXL IT Professional Services) for six months to December 07 increased to $110M (up from $73M for the same period in 2006 – an increase of over 50%).
Year on year: Group Contracting / Consultancy revenues grew at 52%; Finite Perm revenues (including executive recruitment) grew by nearly 30%.
Commenting on the continuing very strong Group performance, Managing Director, Tracy Thomson, confirmed that:
“The Finite Group is very well placed to benefit from the exceptional organic growth opportunities still available within the buoyant IT marketplace throughout Australia (and increasingly the Asia Pacific). Despite the well reported “Skills Shortages” we are still managing to source and place high quality IT personnel in record numbers on the back of increasing demand in virtually every sector.
Notwithstanding the recent Federal Government election and traditional seasonal lull in December, demand has picked up rapidly again in January and we forecast that revenues will continue to grow on the back of continuing high demand, particularly within the Financial Services, Telco, Government and IT Vendor sectors.
Our ongoing investment in ‘our people’, ‘our offices’ and ‘our systems and infrastructure’ are also continuing to attract high calibre consultants and support personnel looking to join the Group.”

Finite Group Managing Director and Founder, Tracy Thomson, named Finalist in the 2007 Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards

Tracy joins other leading entrepreneurs from across Australia who will compete for the ultimate prize of being named 2007 Entrepreneur Of The Year.
Tracy Thomson set up Finite from scratch in December 1998 establishing a new boutique recruitment agency in Sydney’s CBD specialising within the IT Financial Services sector, hence the name Finite.
