Job Description
We are seeking experienced Defence program management professionals for an opportunity to join our high profile client in delivering range of technical Defence engineering programs to their Commonwealth customer.
You will be accountable and working within our client's executive program team, prime contractor, Commonwealth and industry stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of the program (and associated development projects) with an integrated workforce and complex stakeholder environment.
You will be required to provide a strategic level of specialist, professional and technical expertise, potentially relating to the work of different function areas. As the Commonwealth representative, you will build and sustain collaborative working relationships and provide the necessary leadership to establishing a collaborative centre of excellence for advanced threat technology, academic research and industry engagement.
Role Accountabilities
- Manage and lead the program team for the effective delivery of a broad range of complex project activities
- Engage, negotiate and sustain working relationships with Commonwealth and Industry stakeholders on complex program issues to understand and address program requirements
- Ensure governance & operational management practices are in place in a standardised, formal, and regular manner in to facilitate continuous improvement
- Provide strategic direction to the team, including developing business plans, strategies and priorities and monitor work flow and performance
- Provide clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing the program team
- Translate strategy into operational goals and appropriate tasks for others, creating a shared sense of purpose
- Develop project managers to maintain and improve project performance and commit to the continuous improvement of quality management systems
- Interpret CASG and Defence policies, concepts and strategies applicable to the development of projects and project documentation across the project life cycle
Skills & Experience
- Hold formal Project / Program Management qualifications from a recognised industry organisation
- Demonstrate at least 10+ years' experience in large and complex Program and Project Management in defence environments
- Demonstrated experience in leading high performing cross functional teams
- Proven experience in developing, leading and mentoring teams, whilst identifying opportunities to increase team capability and ensure continuous improvement
- Broad knowledge of CASG legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policies requirements
- Must hold an active Defence NV1 security clearance or higher
