The Role:

FinXL are looking to engage Geospatial Data Specialist with geospatial data expertise to work in a team delivering analytics.

The geospatial specialist will work with data analysts and other geospatial experts across the department to tackle a variety of data science problems with a spatial and temporal dimension.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Reviewing a set of existing spatial layers relevant to risk and aligning them with departmental and community data and metadata standards
  • Integrating layers into the department's geospatial data warehouse
  • Developing and documenting a process for maintaining and updating spatial layers in line with key data sources
  • Working with other geospatial specialists in the department to develop tools for visualising and extracting information to inform decision-making
  • Following good geospatial data management and programming practices and team programming conventions
  • Other related activities as required.

The key skills required for this role are:

  • Skills and proven experience in geospatial data production, data management and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver robust, quality geospatial datasets and analysis that meets business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a rigorous environment and proactively collaborate across teams as well as to adapt quickly and flexibly to changing demands and priorities.
