QA Automation Engineer with a leading finance client (consulting through FinXL)

FinXL Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy that partners with clients to bridge the gap between business needs and technology capabilities. Since 2003, we've been delivering high-value ICT services across government, finance, telecommunications, and enterprise sectors.

FinXL is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to join our consulting team and be deployed with a leading finance client on a 12 months contract in Melbourne. FinXL is also able to take over existing visas and provide sponsorship for consultants.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks from scratch using Playwright.
• Implement non-functional testing including performance and security for calculation engines.
• Design control frameworks to validate the accuracy of AI-generated advice logic.
• Integrate automated test suites directly into established CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure the platform supports frequent, low-risk releases through robust automation.
• Define the overarching testing strategy for a newly formed onshore agile squad.
• Mentor associate testers to maintain high quality standards across the team.

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive commercial experience in QA automation specifically using Playwright.
• Strong technical background working with JBoss environments.
• Proven track record of integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience testing within highly regulated environments, preferably Banking & Finance.
• Demonstrated ability to develop testing strategies and frameworks from the ground up.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Engagement Details

• 12 months contract with a leading finance client.
• Hybrid working model with 2-3 days/ week in the office in Sydney CBD.
