Job Title: Data Migration Project Manager (6-Month Contract)
Location: Melbourne
Contract Type: Initial 6-Month Contract
About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Data Migration Project Manager to lead and deliver critical end-to-end data migration initiatives across enterprise systems. This is a key role responsible for ensuring high-quality, on-time, and within-budget delivery of complex data migration programs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, technical stakeholders, and senior leadership to drive successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the full lifecycle of data migration projects from initiation to post-implementation support.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans outlining scope, timelines, resources, budgets, risks, and dependencies.
Drive stakeholder engagement and communication, ensuring transparency around status, issues, and changes.
Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, SMEs, and technical teams to design migration strategies and data validation frameworks.
Oversee ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) activities, data cleansing, mapping, and reconciliation.
Lead governance forums, project steering committees, and stakeholder workshops.
Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
Monitor project progress using project management tools and adapt plans as needed.
Manage third-party vendors or partners involved in migration activities.
Skills & Experience:
8+ years of project management experience with a strong track record in data migration, data integration, or system transitions.
Deep understanding of data migration methodologies, data quality processes, and ETL pipelines.
Experience delivering migrations for large enterprise platforms (CRM, ERP, or similar).
Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
Solid grasp of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) highly desirable.
Desirable Attributes:
Exposure to cloud migration and hybrid data environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Data Services, Fabrics, SQL, or other integration platforms.
Background in government, transport, utilities, or other regulated industries.
