The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior F5 WAF Engineer for a 12-month opportunity to deliver best-practice security solutions for critical applications. This role requires an active security clearance and offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • WAF Policy Configuration: Design and implement best-practice Web Application Firewall (WAF) security policies for the Network Management System (NMS) application.

  • Security Analysis: Analyze F5 learning logs and traffic patterns to develop and tune robust security policies for a secure customer application.

  • SIEM Integration: Provide expert advice and guidance on integrating the F5 WAF into the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, including log parsing and security alarming setup.

  • Documentation & Governance: Develop comprehensive F5 WAF design documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Incident Response: Provide expert input into the Incident Response Plan (IRP) related to WAF and application security.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Security Clearance: Must CURRENTLY hold and maintain an active NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance (non-negotiable).

  • F5 Expertise: Proven senior-level experience designing, configuring, and deploying F5 BIG-IP WAF (ASM/Advanced WAF).

  • Security & SIEM: Strong experience integrating WAF technologies with enterprise SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel).

  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze WAF learning logs to create highly optimized and effective security policies.

  • Documentation: Excellent technical writing skills for creating design documents and operational procedures (SOPs).
