FinXL is looking for a Sydney-based Senior Data Engineer for a 12-month contract. You'll be deployed with a key banking client, working on their data migration from Cloudera to AWS native services, with a primary focus on AWS Glue and Hive Metastore (HMS).

Responsibilities

• Developing and executing a comprehensive migration strategy from Cloudera to AWS native data services, specifically focusing on HMS and AWS Glue.
• Guaranteeing the integrity and consistency of data through seamless integration across diverse platforms and services.
• Designing and implementing automated solutions for data migration, synchronization, and workflow optimization.
• Partnering closely with data and platform engineering teams to foster cohesive and efficient operations.
• Contributing to incident response plans and resilience documentation, facilitating knowledge transfer and platform certification.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience with AWS, especially AWS Glue and HMS.
• Strong background in large-scale data migration projects, particularly from Cloudera to AWS native data services.
• Proficiency in key AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Athena).
• Experience with Starburst Data Platform.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms such as Terraform and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• In-depth knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash, and YAML.
• Proven experience with robust data platforms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
