Job description
FinXL IT Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy that partners with high-stakes sectors including Government, Energy, and Finance.
The Opportunity
FinXL IT is seeking a Senior Data Business Analyst/Technical Business Analyst to join our Data Migration Delivery team. This is a "roll-up-your-sleeves" technical role supporting a massive business transformation to replace and upgrade core legacy systems.
You won't just be documenting requirements; you will be the bridge between complex legacy data "messes" and a scalable, automated future.
Location: Remote (Newcastle based twice-monthly for collaboration).
Term: Initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension.
Focus: Data Migration, SQL Interrogation, and Source-to-Target Mapping.
Key Responsibilities
SQL: Write complex queries to profile legacy databases, uncovering inconsistencies, nulls, and duplicates.
Source-to-Target Mapping (STM): Architect the master blueprint that defines exactly how legacy data translates into the Common Migration Data Model (CMDM).
Data Translation: Collaborate with Architects to ensure diverse legacy formats are standardised into a clean, auditable schema.
Technical Documentation: Build and maintain the Data Dictionary and transformation rules essential for regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Liaison: Facilitate workshops between business SMEs and technical engineering squads to validate migration criteria.
Requirements
Essential:
Data-Centric Mindset: You are a BA who prefers looking at database schemas and ERDs over UI wireframes.
Migration Expertise: Proven experience in large-scale data migrations, specifically involving CRM or Registry system upgrades within highly regulated environments.
SQL Mastery: Strong hands-on experience using SQL for data analysis, data mapping, data extraction, and data profiling.
Technical Writing: Ability to draft clear, logic-based transformation rules and mapping documents.
Desirable:
Exposure to AWS data tools.
What's On Offer?
- Initial 6 months' contract, with a view to extend
- Remote work, with a requirement to travel to the Newcastle office twice a month for team collaboration.
Next Steps
If you are a Data BA who loves "finding the mess" and mapping it to a better future, please submit your CV via SEEK.
