The Opportunity
FinXL IT is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Engineer to join our team onsite at a Federal Government client. This role is essential for managing and supporting enterprise-grade backup and restore platforms, ensuring the security and integrity of vital data centre operations.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement in Brisbane, providing a blend of office collaboration and remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Backup Management: End-to-end management, configuration, and monitoring of enterprise backup systems (Software & Hardware).
Technical Support: Execute backup/restore incidents, service requests, and complex change activities.
Root Cause Analysis: Perform high-level RCA for service interruptions and implement preventive measures to ensure system stability.
Documentation & Knowledge: Develop and improve system documentation and knowledge articles to facilitate "shift-left" outcomes for the Service Desk.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively monitor system performance and contribute to the evolution of the infrastructure service catalogue.
Compliance: Ensure all activities meet strict security, infrastructure standards, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Technical Requirements
Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in infrastructure systems engineering and support.
Backup Solutions: In-depth technical expertise in Rapid Recovery and Veeam.
Virtualisation & OS: Strong experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, and Windows/Unix/Linux (RedHat) environments.
Storage & Networking: Familiarity with HP/Dell storage platforms and networking fundamentals.
Qualifications: A Degree in IT or a related discipline, plus ITIL Practitioner certification.
Desirable Skills (Boost your application)
Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or VB.
Cloud: Exposure to Azure or AWS (AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional certification is highly regarded).
Certifications: Microsoft (MCSE/MCSA) or SCCM experience.
Eligibility & Attributes
Citizenship: Due to the Federal Government nature of this role, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Soft Skills: A customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
