Job description
FinXL IT is partnering with a prominent federal government organisation seeking a Senior Business Analyst to contribute to a major web page modernisation project. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced technical analyst skilled in User-Centred Design (UCD) and passionate about delivering user-friendly digital solutions for government services.
About the Role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for a broad range of analysis tasks critical to the successful delivery of the project. You will act as the vital link between business needs and technical solutions, driving the elicitation, documentation, and management of high-level and detailed business requirements. Your expertise will be key in delivering functional and non-functional requirements, solution assessment, and validation.
You will collaborate closely with business subject matter experts (SMEs) and IT teams to analyse requirements, discover underlying business needs, and translate these into clear, actionable user stories for Agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Develop user interface designs using User-Centred Design (UCD) principles aligned with industry standards and Australian Government Accessibility and Usability guidelines
Lead workshops and stakeholder discussions to elicit and analyse business needs, applying a technical lens to requirements
Analyse, document, and implement technology solutions that enhance business processes
Specify business, functional, and non-functional requirements in user stories suitable for Agile projects
Lead and mentor junior Business Analysts, delegating tasks and guiding the team towards successful project delivery
Develop process maps including as-is and to-be process analysis and designs
Support testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) preparation, execution, and system implementation, including training and user manuals
Quickly understand the business environment, strategy, and how it impacts the team's work
Essential Requirements
Australian Citizenship is mandatory due to the project's nature and security requirements
A Technical Business Analyst, with experience working in web page modernisations, and experience developing user interface designs using User-Centred Design (UCD) principles.
Strong knowledge of IT Systems Development Lifecycles (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies
Extensive experience eliciting, documenting, and managing business requirements
Proficiency with industry process modelling (including BPMN), requirements management tools, and data analysis
Demonstrated enterprise analysis skills with the ability to solve complex problems in dynamic environments
Proven ability to apply user-centric design thinking effectively
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to varied audiences clearly
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
Commitment to customer service excellence and professional representation
Desirable:
- Knowledge of systems such as SAS, Microsoft Dynamics, Java, Siebel/Oracle Fusion, PeopleSoft, and Data Warehouse technologies
