Position Overview

The Networks and Security Team Leader is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of managed networking and security services under the ITIL framework. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strong governance focus, and people leadership skills to ensure client environments are robust and services are continuously optimized.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing guidance and technical expertise to Level 1, 2, and 3 engineering teams. Run information-sharing sessions and ensure network documentation is accurate.

  • Service Delivery Governance: Drive governance, quality, and ITIL compliance for complex, business-critical changes, including managing release and configuration management tasks.

  • Incident & Problem Management: Lead teams in investigating, isolating, and restoring service during incidents, then driving subsequent problem management to identify and eliminate root causes.

  • Client Relationship: Work closely with Service Delivery Managers (SDMs) to establish strong client relationships, acting as the primary technical point of contact and ensuring networking solutions align with client business objectives.

  • Operations Management: Define and manage the team's 24/7 roster and act as an escalation point for complex network incidents outside of normal business hours.

  • Network Optimization: Proactively review device life cycles, software status, and drive automation initiatives to enhance network resilience, performance, and security.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical Depth (Mandatory): Extensive, hands-on experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).

  • ITIL & Governance: Deep understanding and practical application of the ITIL framework across Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Proven experience leading, mentoring, and managing technical teams (L1, L2, L3 engineers) to high performance.

  • Vendor Certifications (Highly Desirable): Certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Palo Alto, Juniper, or Fortinet.

  • Client Focus: Proven experience in client relationship management, service reporting, and translating technical issues into business context.

  • Other: Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
